Great Start students enjoy field trip and fall activities
The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is a free (or inexpensive) preschool program available at Cedar Street. The beginning of the school year brings lots of excitement and activities. For many of our students, it is their first school experience.
In addition to learning the school routine and how to interact with other kids, fall provides us with many seasonally themed activities, such as taste-testing different types of apples, apple printing, making applesauce, measuring pumpkins, and selling pumpkins and apples in the house area. We also find ways to connect the community with our school activities by going on nature walks, learning about fire safety from the Paw Paw Fire Department, and a taking a field trip to Harvest Moon.
The field trip to Harvest Moon in Gobles took place in early October. While there, students played on the huge slide, went on a hayride, played in the oversized “Corn Box” and met animals including goats, bunnies and a tortoise. We are very thankful for the numerous families who joined us on our adventure! The field trip not only allowed students to learn about farms and animals, but it also provided a great way for us to get to know our families. We look forward to the rest of the year and other opportunities to work with families, including our Fall Festival, Winter Concert and Literacy Night.
