PPPS Board of Education - District Shout-Outs. Build Together Paw Paw

At the end of each regular Board of Education Meeting, board members take a moment to share some of the great things they see in the district while serving on the Board. Here are this month's points of Pride & Progress:

“At Paw Paw Later Elementary, I appreciate their focus on the CharacterStrong virtue of the month: Empathy. I would also like to recognize Katy Cole, the district’s animal assisted services coordinator, and Middle School Teacher Kaylah Laurian for winning the MEC Grants. Great work! Katy Cole is excited to apply her grant toward supplies she needs for the Therapy Dogs. Lastly, I’d like to recognize the Later Elementary Robotics Team and Coach Neidlinger on going to the state championship!” Brent McNitt

“At the Cedar Street Campus, some fun things are happening there as well. To celebrate the holidays, students enjoyed cookie decorating and the counselor served lattes as the in-house barista! Under our Core Value of Innovation, I’d like to highlight a new high school club at Cedar Street, “Animation Voices,” focused on animation arts and voice acting. With so much of what we do online these days, high school students could use these unique skills to create successful online businesses. I’d like to thank the team at Cedar Street for coming up with this innovative idea! Lastly, I’d like to recognize the Aspire Academy Student of the Month, Nox Madgyesi.” Dale Pease

"At Paw Paw High School, I'd like to recognize Student of the Month, Gavin Carretero. Also, there were several school groups, teams and clubs that recently supported the Lions Club: NHS, Pay it Forward class, Band and Baseball, just to name a few. I'm sure there were others. Some groups collected food and many of them adopted families. The baseball team showed up at 5 a.m. to unload the cold truck on the day of pick up. Thank you to everyone who participated! Lastly, make plans to attend the PPHS musical production, "SPAMALOT." Tickets are on sale now for shows on February 6, 7, 8 and 9." Ray Martin

At Paw Paw Middle School, I was happy to see all the fun activities going on there! For the holidays, the students and staff celebrated with candy grams, a cookie bake-off, door decorating, and more. At the middle school level, things get more serious, and I was happy to see they are taking time to have fun too. I applaud their efforts!”  Lindsay Clark

“At Paw Paw Early Elementary, students can earn tickets as positive behavior incentives for following P.R.I.D.E. expectations. During the first semester, second grade students spent the most P.R.I.D.E. tickets: 10,240. They were rewarded with popsicles and an extra recess at the end of the day! The first grade students spent 8695 tickets and Young Fives/Kindergarten spend 8440 tickets. Also, I’d like to recognize the first grade student who won the Christmas in the Village Coloring Contest and was able to participate in the Village Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony!”  Nate Mitchell
