Paw Paw, MI – (November 3, 2021) On November 2nd, Paw Paw area voters were asked to consider the renewal and restoration of a $2.5 million operating millage for Paw Paw Public Schools, and the proposal passed by a margin of nearly two votes to one in favor of the millage.
“I am really pleased that more than 1300 people voted to approve this school millage,” said Superintendent Rick Reo. “20 percent of our registered voters showed up at the polls, which is a very good turnout considering that the school proposal was the only item on the ballot. I think we’re very fortunate to have such a high level of community support in our school district.”
Now that this non-homestead operating millage has passed, the District will receive its full per-pupil foundation allowance from the State of Michigan.
The operating millage is used to fund salaries for teachers and staff, provide transportation and fund extracurricular activities for students. It is also used to pay for instructional materials and provide for other essential needs in the District.
“The passage of this operating millage proposal will allow us to continue to deliver a high-quality educational experience to all students, which they rightly deserve,” said Reo.
