Paw Paw, MI – Anyone with a license can drive a car, but it takes someone special to drive a school bus! At Paw Paw Public Schools, our bus drivers practice the core value of Kindness every day, and they take great pride in creating a safe and welcoming environment for all who ride their bus. This exemplifies just the type of person Paw Paw Public Schools is hoping to attract next Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., as they team up with Hoekstra Transportation to host a Bus Driver Recruitment Event.
Qualified candidates are welcome to come out and test drive a school bus, meet with representatives from the transportation department, and warm up with a cup of coffee and pizza! Candidates who complete and submit an application the day of the event will be entered into a drawing for a gift card to Black Rock Restaurant in Kalamazoo, along with other prizes.
It is the vision of Paw Paw Public Schools to be united with our community to build success. Therefore, when our community partners at Hoekstra Transportation approached PPPS Transportation Director Angela Vasquez with the concept of teaming up to host this one-day event, she welcomed the idea. Hoekstra Transportation is an important partner of Paw Paw Public Schools. They strive to be a valuable resource to school districts across the state of Michigan, not just in providing Thomas Built Buses and a full range of services, but also in going the extra mile for their customers.
“This event is a great and fun way to showcase bus driving as a career,” says Vasquez. “Our drivers receive great pay, benefits, paid training & testing, holiday pay and much more! It’s a great job for a stay-at-home parent and drivers can actually bring their child to work with them, eliminating the need to pay for childcare.”
This event will take place Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Paw Paw High School, 30609 Red Arrow Highway, Paw Paw, Michigan.
