No amount of rain could keep the Paw Paw faithful away Friday night, and the Red Wolves defense came in hot on a cold homecoming night! When all was said and done, Paw Paw sent the Three Rivers Wildcats home wet and soggy, with their 7th victory of the season, 47-14.
The Paw Paw offense scored on their first play from scrimmage, when Bennie ignited his jets early and broke loose on an 88 yard touchdown run. After Troy Vandenburg's PAT Paw Paw led 7-0. Later in the second quarter, PJ DeYoung scored on a 5 yard touchdown run and Paw Paw went into halftime leading 14-0.
In the second half Paw Paw wasted no time getting back to business when Bryson Newell capped off a 50 yard scoring drive with a 4 yard touchdown run. The scoring barrage by the Power Rangers continued in the second half with PJ DeYoung getting to the edge and scoring from 20 yards out. Then Bryson Newell scored back to back touchdowns of 54 and 18 yards.
Early in the fourth quarter, Ben Miller closed out the scoring for Paw Paw with a 47 yard touchdown run and Paw Paw went on to win 47-14. On the night Paw Paw amassed 442 yards rushing led by Miller’s 278 yards on 17 carries. Newell rushed for 98 yards on 6 carries and DeYoung had 58 yards on 9 carries. Cody Conolly and Dom Hernandez led the defense with 10 total tackles.
