At the November meeting of the Paw Paw Public Schools (PPPS) Board of Education, Carolyn Murray was unanimously approved as the new Paw Paw Later Elementary Principal.
Murray will succeed Jeremy Davison, who served as the later elementary principal for the past nine years until he was recently promoted to superintendent of Paw Paw Public Schools.
Before joining PPPS, Murray served as the principal of St. Mary Elementary School in Paw Paw, and prior to that, she taught kindergarten and second grade in St. Joseph, Michigan.
Murray graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from Augustana College. She is nearing completion of her Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University.
“There was overwhelming support for Ms. Murray as the top candidate for the position,” said Superintendent Jeremy Davison. “I am excited to have Carolyn join our dynamic leadership team, and I look forward to the positive impact she will have on the students, staff, and families at Paw Paw Later Elementary. I am also grateful to our Later Elementary Interim Principal Karen Bitzer, a retired school administrator, who has graciously agreed to stay on temporarily in a leadership mentoring capacity.”
In addition to building collaborative staff relationships, Murray looks forward to getting better acquainted with the students, staff, and families at the later elementary and in the district.
After her start date of December 2, 2024, Principal Carolyn Murray can be reached by phone at 269-415-5400, or by email at carolyn.murray@ppps.org.
