Paw Paw Later Elementary

Our dance was originally scheduled for next Saturday, February 5th. In light of the high positivity rates of COVID that we are seeing in our district and our community, we have decided to postpone the dance until Saturday, March 19th. Our original plan was to require masks as a mitigating strategy based on the large crowd that we traditionally have in attendance for this event. While that is still a definite possibility, we wanted to postpone and hopefully see numbers go down over the next month so that we feel more comfortable considering the possibility of a traditional dance with no mask mandate. We appreciate your support and understanding of this decision as we remain committed to the health and safety of our families. For those that paid in advance, please contact your child's school to let them know if you would like a refund by next Friday, February 4th. Otherwise, we will assume that you plan to attend on the rescheduled date.

Everyone is invited to come out tonight for the 1st Annual Quarter Auction fundraiser at Paw Paw Later Elementary! Preventative steps have been taken to keep everyone safe and healthy by promoting social distancing and requiring masks for all guests and volunteers. Hot dogs, chips, drinks, and candy will be available to purchase for dinner, and there will be a bake sale with mouth-watering homemade items for dessert. #ForTheKids

UPDATE: Tonight's Committee of the Whole work session for the school board has been cancelled, as the facilitator will not be able to make it. The 6:00 special board meeting will proceed as scheduled.

Please note that tonight's special meeting of the Board of Education will take place at the ADMINISTRATION BUILDING at 6:00 p.m. A Committee of the Whole Work Session (also a public meeting) will follow at 7:00 p.m.

Paw Paw Later Elementary is in need of volunteer coaches for the 2022 Season of Girls on the Run. There is no experience needed! All coaching supplies will be provided. You will need to commit to coaching 2 days a week. Plan for 3:45 to 5:15. You will also need to attend a Coaches training in late January or February (usually Saturdays or late evenings). Practices start 3/21/22

Andrew Barrett is a proud WATCH D.O.G. Dad! He volunteers to help kids feel safer at school. As the son of a single mom, Andrew said, "When I was in school, there was nothing like this. When I heard about it, I was all in!" On this day, he helped clear ice and snow. #DadsWhoCare

Paw Paw Early and Later Elementary will be holding Parent-Teacher Conferences on February 2nd & 3rd from 1pm-7:15pm. There will be half days of school on these days with dismissal at 12:15. Sign up for conferences will be online through a program called School Bookings. You may choose between a Face-to-Face (in-person) conference, a virtual conference, or a phone conference, and you can schedule all of your elementary children at one time. Elementary Campus PTO meeting is tonight at 6:30pm in the Later Elementary Cafeteria. There are a lot of great things scheduled for our students. We need volunteers to make these events and experiences successful for our kids. Please try to attend. We need your support!

We would like to say congratulations to Mrs. Chris DePierre. Mrs. DePierre is the new Dean of Students for Paw Paw Later Elementary. She will be working with our staff to support behavior and discipline, while Mr. Davison will focus more support on instruction in the classroom. Way to go Mrs. DePierre! We would also like to welcome and congratulate Mr. Jeffery Burch. Mr. Burch is our new Physical Education teacher. Mr. Burch is a graduate of Paw Paw High School and recent graduate of Western Michigan University. Welcome back to Paw Paw Mr. Burch!

This is a new fundraiser that the PTO is trying in place our our previous spaghetti dinner. Please consider supporting our PTO by attending this fun-filled event. The proceeds go to supporting activities, events, ad experiences for our students in Y5 through 5th grade!

Our tradition at the Later Elementary has always been a pajama day or “Snowed In” day on the last day before break. Even our therapy dog Bailey loved wearing her PJs and hanging out with the students!
