Paw Paw, MI (December 16, 2021) Paw Paw Public Schools (PPPS) engaged Plante Moran Cresa (PMC), a real estate consulting firm, to research various aspects of its educational, operational, financial and facility functions.
As part of the research process, a survey was mailed to all Paw Paw area residents in early November and was also available to take online. Nearly 750 residents completed and returned the survey, the results of which will help the district refine its strategic plan.
In addition, PMC is partnering with PPPS architectural and engineering firm TowerPinkster and construction management firm Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. (OAK) to provide a thorough facilities assessment and develop a facilities plan based on the critical needs, deferred maintenance needs and property enhancement needs in the district.
“Through insight gleaned from the community input survey,” stated Superintendent Rick Reo. “We hope to have a better understanding of what the community values most in their schools, what areas need improvement and how we can best plan for the future of our facilities based on that information.”
17 questions in the survey covered a wide range of topics ranging from age of respondent and township of residence, to whether or not they have students in the district. More detailed questions, such as level of satisfaction with quality of education, staff professionalism and fiscal responsibility were also included.
According to Paul Wills, Partner with Plante Moran Cresa, “The community response to the survey was encouraging, and it’s obvious how much pride Paw Paw residents have in their schools. Now that we have the survey results, we are in a much better position to help the district align their strategic plan with a facilities plan that is based on what is needed and what the community wants going forward.”
