National School Bus Safety Week serves as a reminder for students, parents, teachers and the community to keep school bus safety top-of-mind. Each day this week we will share another bus safety tip. Today's safety tip is focused on walking to the bus stop. #schoolbussafetyweek #thankyoubusdrivers #studentsafetymatters #buildtogetherpawpaw

National school bus safety week. Walking to the Bus Stop • Walk young children to the bus stop or encourage children to walk in groups. There is safety in numbers; groups are easier for drivers to see. • Practice good pedestrian behavior: walk on the sidewalk, and if there is no sidewalk stay out of the street. If you must walk in the street, walk single file, face traffic and stay as close to the edge of the road as you can. • Stop and look left, right and then left again if you must cross the street. Do the same thing at drive -ways and alleys. Exaggerate your head turns and narrate your actions so your child knows you are looking left, right and left. national school bus safety week. Getting Ready for School • Have your children put everything they carry in a backpack or school bag so that they won’t drop things along the way. • Encourage them to wear bright, contrasting colors so they will be more easily seen by drivers. • Make sure children leave home on time so they can arrive at the bus stop before it is due, ideally at least five minutes early. Running after or in front of a bus is dangerous.. ppps transportation department cares about your child's safety. build together logo. school bus clip art

Wednesday, Aug, 2nd the students from the Middle School summer learning program would like to invite community members and students to help contribute to our new mural project by joining to paint from 1-3 pm. The mural painting session will be behind the Paw Paw Middle School, near the entrance to the District-wide Garage Sale taking place in the MS gym. Paw Paw Public Schools in partnership with Saugatuck Center for the Arts will provide all necessary materials and guidance for all painters. Painters should wear clothes for painting. When completed, the finished mural will be installed outside PPMS (facing the bus drop off and pick up loop behind the school.) We're hoping the final mural will have the contributions of many different students and community members so it is a true community art project when finished. This will be the final painting session as the finished product will be attached to the building for all to enjoy with a dedication on Thursday @ 10:45am.
